Our time is now - we are TorchBearers.

TorchBearers are often called on as a resource of first choice by numerous local charities to volunteer their time and labor to worthy causes. Some of the ongoing efforts include:

  • Destination College, a mentoring program designed to help high school seniors who are the first in their family to attend college prepare themselves for the collegiate transition.
  • Bridgestone Invitational, a world-famous professional golf tournament at Firestone Country Club, involving many of the premier male golfers from around the globe. TorchBearers serve in a variety of volunteer positions throughout the tournament week.
  • United Way Day of Caring, a one day service blitz of volunteer labor throughout the Greater Akron area. TorchBearers provide help for numerous projects for United Way service agencies at this annual event.

TorchBearers is a diverse network of young individuals in the Greater Akron area who seek opportunities to interact professionally and socially with peers; contribute to the community through philanthropic and volunteer activities; and connect with established community leaders, in ways that will advance their growth as leaders. Our members are currently serving, or have recently served on more than 100 different civic, educational or non-profit organizations.
